It's a misnomer to say we're 'introducing' Low Class - our very own Canadian graffiti shaman has been putting ink on paper for THTC since the Summer of 2013. Since then he has produced a whole bushel of very successful designs for us, as well as the typography of our latest brand update.
But who is this mysterious hooded figure, oftentimes found lurking at skate ramps and assorted drop-ins for back country snowboarding runs throughout British Colombia? Folks, we present Benji Andringa aka Low Class.
The man himself, Benji Andringa aka Low Class
I don't have much to complain about. I hang my hat in Revelstoke, BC behind the ski resort with a couple homies including a pet rabbit named Moose. We occupy a run-down country house (AKA The Country House) and we're known to throw a good bush party in the back 40.
I get by as a freelance Graphic Designer/Illustrator working with rad clients such as; Eagle Pass Heli Ski, Revelstoke Mountain Resort, The Revelstoke Mountaineer, Ekumenik Clothing, Trapper Snowboards, Board Butter Glide Wax, Monashee Spirits and more.
Maximum living on a minimum wage. True North style.
Drinking coffee with Moose! I just finished a collab design with THTC for the Dub Pistols - and I'm finishing up a new Spring '18 piece - stay tuned for that! I'm also working on some exhibition pieces for a show called “Art & Soul” held in Whistler BC during the World Ski & Snowboard Festival this April.
(The Swatch Art and Soul exhibition is running throughout April as part of the Whistler World Ski and Snowboard Festival. Definitely one to check out if you're in the area!)
As a freelance artist/designer, I send a lot of work out to companies that inspire me. Gav Lawson was one of the first people to put my artwork on a clothing line. But more importantly, I enjoy working for a company that's genuine and stands for something bigger than the paycheck.
Cheaper flights, I want to come visit the UK! For real though, I put a lot of upside down triangles in my work this is to show my distaste for our capitalist system that destroys so much and protects so little.
(Note: The Black Triangle was once used by the fascist regimes of Nazi Germany and Italy to mark 'asocial' individuals placed in concentration camps - communists, homosexuals and anarchists, etc. It has been re-appropriated by various social movements on the left, most recently including British Disability rights activists. #KnowledgeIsPower! - Ash THTC)
RIP Stompin' Tom Connors. Jimi Hendrix. Big L
I'm all about style. I'm diggin' what I have seen from The Tribes!
